Seize the storm

Description

This is a program that generates passwords for you so you don’t have to be assigned one or think of one by yourself.   It is also a little more user-friendly in that you can choose which characters you’ll allow in the password.  

Directions

1. Double-click on executable to run.
2. Select a mode of allowable characters by clicking on the radio buttons on the left.
3. Check the box if you want the password to be case sensitive (defaulted to case-sensitive)
4. Choose a desired length of the password
5. Click the “Generate Password” button to get your password
6. Repeat clicking till you get a desireable password
7. Commit that password to memory or write it down
8. Exit program

Common issues

1.  I lost my password, can I get it back?   Absolutely not! There would be no sense in me making this program if it recalled passwords you used.

2.  I clicked a button that should have changed or altered the password but it didn’t change it. You didn’t click “Generate Password”.   You cannot alter a password by clicking on anything else EXCEPT generate password, which of course, gives you a new password.

3.  What does 62 to the power of 8 mean?   It means that the chances of someone guessing your password is 1 in 62*62*62*62*62*62*62*62…or 1 in 218,340,105,584,896.   It might just be that their chances of winning the Powerball are better – in which case they probably wouldn’t need your password.

4.  What if I don’t want repeatable characters? Keep clicking “Generate Password”…see the Future Releases section below.

5. I don’t trust you, you’re probably sending passwords back to you!   I have better and more honorable things to do with my time than worry about what password you have.   Three solutions for you: a) trust me, b) use it on a computer that never connects to the internet, c) don’t use it at all.

I have lost the source code to this program.   If I find it, I’ll post some features that may get into future releases.   So this is all you get for now.
