A busted chase out to Huron and back. I believe some other storm chasers had more success to the south and far west. I do know the DOW was in the area at the time, but kept mostly to I-90.
I did make a stop by what was left of Manchester, SD. It was hit by a tornado on June 24, 2003. No one died, thank God. Looks to be that only one person rebuilt – a shed and some outbuildings that might have survived. This was on the very east side of town. It was definitely a humbling experience as this was the first time I’ve ever visited a place where a tornado has wreaked havoc.
Sometimes the best shots on a chase aren’t of storms. The sunset made it all worth it. Met some cows along the way that weren’t too happy to see me wanting to take pictures of them.
