Seize the storm

Short:

Chase down to SE tip of South Dakota prove to give some excellent structure shots and youthful pictures of thunderstorms.   Was on one tornado warned cell by Vermillion but we couldn’t see anything as it was behind some hills sidelining the Missouri River.   Dime size hail observed.

Long:

This was an excellent chase down to the southeast tip of South Dakota.   Amy, my then fiance came with to support me and do some navigation assistance.   It ended up we got lost on some gravel backroads of Iowa but the funny thing was that these backroads were marked as highways…I guess my only answer was that it’s Iowa.  

Got a great shot of a cell that had the best textbook structure I’ve seen yet.   As I said in the short account, we were on a tornado warned cell but couldn’t get any closer as there wasn’t a good road network in the area because of the Missouri River.   We closed the chase with an excellent shelf cloud that didn’t come out very well in the pictures.  

On the way back home, we encountered dime sized hail.   Hehe, this was funny because we pulled over and I told Amy I wanted to find out what size the hail was.   So she rolls down the window and sticks her hand out and gets pelted.   Some bounces off her hand and into the car.   Then she starts whining to me about how much it hurt and I told her next time not to catch it with her hand, lol.
